What Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh Is About
An unremarkable looking man manages to marry the woman he dreamed of. Then her charismatic childhood friend turns up, his insecurity swells, and he starts squeezing the marriage himself. Chandan Arora's 2005 film treats jealousy not as the engine of a crime story but as something everyday and humiliating, keeping the man's height, his looks and his opinion of himself permanently on screen. Rajpal Yadav, usually cast for comedy, plays him from a far more fragile place. Rituparna Sengupta is the wife and Kay Kay Menon the friend from childhood.
