Marvelous, the Film

Sergio Martínez is an Argentinian boxer. He came from a poor life in the countryside. He rose from the amateur ranks to a world title. His nickname is Maravilla. The documentary catches him at thirty seven. Time is no longer on his side. His punch is still hard and it still works in the ring. His real fight, though, is outside it. He is a man who says what he sees. He does not hold back from speaking against those in power. That stance costs him dearly. The order of professional boxing leaves him outside. He wants back the middleweight belt that was taken from him. Injuries, money and favouritism block his road. The documentary is about a man fighting in order to fight. The eighty two minute documentary was directed by Juan Pablo Cadaveira. It is an American production finished in 2014.
