Master Eder and his Pumuckl

In the workshop of an old fashioned master cabinet maker in Munich there lives a tiny red haired goblin. This creature, named Pumuckl, becomes visible to the master when he gets stuck in the pot of glue. Nobody else can see him, and he holds back from no mischief. Objects move about on their own and the craftsman appears to be talking to thin air; the comedy comes from there. The film speaks to children and sets a creature with no use for rules against a man of order. The patience of the master and the wildness of the goblin are the two poles of the account. Animated passages and live footage are used together. Gustl Bayrhammer and Hans Clarin are in the cast. Ulrich König’s eighty four minute film, a joint German and Hungarian production, was completed in 1982.
