Matthew Passion

Matvey is a young man serving at the altar of a church. He is careful and orderly. He dreams of becoming a priest. He has arranged his life around that aim. Agata paints for a living. She lives in the moment and does not plan ahead. She is bold and hard to predict. Their paths cross. At the start they seem to share nothing. One looks to rules, the other to instinct. As they get to know each other they find the same questions. Their values are not as far apart as they assumed. Admitting that is hard for both of them. The film keeps the relationship between comedy and drama. Faith and ordinary life enter the same frame. Denis Vlasenko and Timofey Tribuntsev appear in the one hundred fifteen minute film, a Russian production Sergey Ilyin finished in 2023.
