Seth Avett B Bob Crawford J Joe Kwon P Paul DeFiglia T Tania Elizabeth What May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers Is About
The documentary tells the rise of the Avett Brothers, the band out of North Carolina, over some fifteen years. At the same time it follows step by step the recording of an album they made with the producer Rick Rubin; how the songs are built, how the brothers argue and the long silences in the studio are all in the film. There is as much family life as backstage; making a living, fatherhood and exhaustion stand in the same frame as the music. The account does not glorify the band; it shows how hard working together is. The hundred and seven minute American documentary by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio was completed in 2017.
