What Meleparambil Aanveedu Is About

The youngest son of a large and well off household in Kerala marries a Tamil woman without telling his family. Afraid of how they will react, he brings her into the house as a servant, and at first the lie holds. But when his older brothers begin taking an interest in her too the situation becomes impossible, and every new lie makes the last one bigger. The film makes comedy out of the difference in language and custom between two regions, and keeps reminding the audience of the line between a servant and the family of the house. Jayaram and Shobana appear in Rajasenan’s hundred and forty six minute Malayalam film, completed in 1993.
