Jacqueline Chong Si-Man What Men on the Dragon Is About
Four middle aged men working at a telecom company sign up reluctantly for the company dragon boat team, hoping it will keep them clear of the coming redundancies. The point is to look good to management, but as the training goes on all four remember things about themselves they had forgotten. The film takes the fear of losing your job in middle age in Hong Kong and handles it as comedy, and it does not hang the victory on the result of a race. The account cares less about whether the team wins than about what the four men will do with their own lives. Francis Ng Chun-Yu plays the lead in Sunny Chan Wing-Sun’s ninety seven minute Hong Kong film, completed in 2018.
