Michelangelo Endless

The film tells Michelangelo's life and his work through two voices. One is Michelangelo himself: angry, restless, bending to nobody. The other is Giorgio Vasari, painter, architect and the man counted as the first art historian. Vasari accounts for him; he defends himself. Between them stand the David, the Pietà, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the Last Judgment, all filmed in high resolution down to the detail. Emanuele Imbucci directs, with Enrico Lo Verso as Michelangelo and Ivano Marescotti as Vasari. It was made together with the Vatican Museums. It stands between documentary and fiction and uses both.
