Miss Virginia

Virginia is a single mother living in Washington. She works two jobs to keep going. Her son is not safe at the school he attends. Violence and drugs are common in the neighbourhood. She wants to take him out of there. But she cannot find the money for a private school. After a while she stops trying alone. She joins with families in the same position. The aim is to get school fees covered for poor children. The matter moves from the city to congress. A congressman gives her his support. The process is long and wearing. The film is based on the story of a real person. It tells the events from her side. The voucher programme in question is still argued over. Uzo Aduba and Matthew Modine appear in the hundred and two minute film, an American production R.J. Daniel Hanna finished in 2019.
