Mura

Muhammad Musthafa's 2024 Malayalam film follows four friends in Trivandrum. All come from poor districts and plan a robbery, treating it as their one chance to change their lives. The interest is not the plan coming apart but the friendship. As the job proceeds, who is taking how much risk becomes a matter of argument; the narrative brings in a question from the past and trust breaks down. Suraj Venjaramoodu appears and carries a second line. The violence is hard and abrupt and the images are dark. The narrative saves no one and the close is merciless. Who it's for: those who like Malayalam crime drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a hopeful close; the film leaves its characters no way out.
