Murderer Report

Cho Young-jun's 2025 Korean film begins when a serial killer convicted of eleven murders offers an exclusive interview to a veteran reporter chasing a scoop. The killer promises to reveal where the remaining bodies are; the reporter accepts, and a bargaining relationship forms between them. The real subject is not the crime but its conversion into a story: the killer manages the attention, the reporter shapes the report, and the victims' families are left outside that arrangement. Cho Yeo-jeong's reporter carries a consistent tension between professional ambition and conscience. The story gives in at points to the familiar shapes of the genre and makes the expected turn in its final section. Who it's for: viewers who like Korean thrillers and crime films built on media ethics. Who it's not for: anyone avoiding violent and detailed depictions of murder, or tired of the twist-ending template.
