Music on Hold

Ezequiel writes music for films, but he is stuck; he cannot get the new piece written. A snatch of hold music he hears while waiting on the phone lodges in his head and he sets out after it. Paula is pregnant, her boyfriend has left her, and her mother, arriving from Spain, wants to meet the son-in-law. The two strike a deal that serves them both. Hernán Goldfrid's Argentine film puts Natalia Oreiro and Diego Peretti opposite each other, with Norma Aleandro also in the cast. The plot follows the familiar route of romantic comedy, but it feeds on the everyday detail of Buenos Aires. The film's best idea is the one in its title: chasing after a piece of music nobody listens to.
