What My Dream Is Yours Is About
When the conceited singer Garry Mitchell refuses to renew his radio contract, the agent Doug Blake goes looking for a voice to replace him. In New York he finds Martha Gibson, a single mother with a wonderful voice. He gets her out to Hollywood and then cannot sell her to the show's sponsor. Doug tries every angle he can think of, falls in love with her along the way, and is not helped at all by Martha's interest in Garry. Michael Curtiz made the musical in 1949, early in Doris Day's career, with Jack Carson, Eve Arden and Adolphe Menjou around her.
