What My Father's Scent Is About
Mohamed Siam's 2026 Egyptian film covers a single night between a father and his son. The two have been distant for a long time and must spend that night in the same house. As the talk goes on, each learns what the other has hidden. The film takes nothing outside; the tension stays entirely between two people and the narrative does not attempt to settle the past. Ahmed Malek and Kamel El Basha lead. The space is narrow and the light low. The tone is close to a thriller. Who it's for: those who like contemporary Egyptian cinema and two-hander drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting incident; the film is made of conversation.
