What My Paparotti Is About
Jang-ho is a high school student who grew up inside a gang, and he has an extraordinary voice and wants to be Pavarotti. Sang-jin was a promising tenor once, until a tumour on his vocal cords took him off the stage and into teaching music at a provincial school. When the boy lands in his class, the man wants nothing to do with him. Yoon Jong-chan's 2013 film is drawn from a real story: that of Kim Ho-joong, who introduced himself on a television programme with his gang past and his voice at the same time. It is built on a teacher and a student coming to accept each other, emotional without being inflated. Han Suk-kyu and Lee Je-hoon face each other across it.
