Naan Sigappu Manithan

Indhiran has had narcolepsy since childhood: the moment his feeling passes a certain threshold he falls asleep, and an ordinary life has never been possible. He meets Meera and they fall in love, he finds a temporary way to manage the condition, and then one night the two of them are attacked. Indhiran goes under, Meera is raped, and from there the film turns into a revenge story. The shape of it is this: an assault on a woman becomes fuel for a man’s arc, and the narration afterwards follows Indhiran rather than Meera, a template Indian commercial cinema has used many times. What sets the film apart is that the illness is not decoration; the narcolepsy is both the source of the suspense and the real obstacle the hero has to solve. Thiru directed and G. V. Prakash Kumar wrote the music. Vishal leads, with Lakshmi Menon and Ineya. It opened on 11 April 2014.
