Nattseilere

The year is 1877 and the story is set on the Norwegian coast. After a storm a girl is washed ashore. She lies among the wreckage and the seaweed as if lifeless. Those who find her bring her round with difficulty. The girl remembers nothing, though. She does not know who she is or where she came from. They call her the Girl from the Sea. A fisherman and his wife take her in. In time it emerges that she has unusual gifts. She plays the organ beautifully, for one. The girl remains a stranger among the coastal people. She wants to find out where she came from. Fleeing, she hides in the boat of a vagabond called Borr. Running from the sheriff and the priest, the two look for the place she was born. Vera Holte and Helge Jordal appear in the hundred and thirteen minute film, a Norwegian production Tor M. Tørstad finished in 1986.
