No Regret

Su-min grew up in an orphanage. In Seoul he works in a factory, tries to attend art school, and drives in the evenings. One night a rich young businessman, Jae-min, gets into his car and makes a pass at him. Su-min turns him down. Then he is let go from the factory and has no other way to earn; he starts working in a host bar for men. One day Jae-min turns up there as a customer. It is Leesong Hee-il's first feature and a turning point in Korean cinema: it is counted as the first Korean feature made by an openly gay director. It was shown in only nine cinemas and drew far more people than anyone expected. The film seats love inside the difference of class; the matter is not simply a relationship between two men but that one of them has everything in a world where the other has nothing. Kim Nam-gil plays Jae-min. A hundred and thirteen minutes.
