What Numb Is About
Hudson Milbank is a well-paid Hollywood screenwriter who one day notices he feels nothing at all, as though he were watching his own life from outside it. He goes from doctor to doctor and psychiatrist to psychiatrist, tries pills, and none of it holds. Then he meets Sara. What the film is describing has a name: depersonalisation disorder. Harris Goldberg, who wrote it, went through the same thing and made the film out of that. Matthew Perry leads. It was sold as a romantic comedy, but the subject is serious and the jokes often land awkwardly against it.
