O Delfim

There is a wealthy landowner. The people around him call him the Dauphin. He spends his days hunting, drinking and chasing women. He runs his estate, the Laguna, himself. His wife, who has no children, lives there with him. So do his manservant, who has one arm, and a guard dog he prizes. A sportsman comes every year to shoot duck on the estate. It is this man who tells the story. When he arrives this time he finds a body in the lagoon. The person floating there is the wife of the landowner. The manservant is found dead on his master’s bed. The Dauphin and his dog are nowhere to be seen. Barking is heard from somewhere over the lagoon. Nothing is ever cleared up. The film draws a picture of rot. Rogério Samora and Alexandra Lencastre appear in the eighty eight minute film, a Portuguese production Fernando Lopes finished in 2002.
