Old Thieves: The Legend of Artegio

The documentary is about a generation of thieves in Mexico. The men worked through the sixties and seventies. Five of them sit before the camera and talk. All of them grew up on the streets of Mexico City. They had a code of conduct among themselves. What could and could not be done was settled. They called their ways of stealing the artegio. There were different classes of criminal on the street. Each had his own trade and his own place. They also had arrangements with police commanders. Those arrangements kept them going for a long time. Then the betrayals came. Some were caught, some were sold out by a friend. They describe the price they paid themselves. Everardo González directed the ninety seven minute documentary. It is a Mexican production finished in 2007.
