James Marsh's 2008 documentary covers a French wire walker who secretly rigged a line between the twin towers in 1974. The preparation took years. The team broke into the building. The film builds the preparation like a heist; the narrative gives the walk itself through photographs. It won the Academy Award for best documentary. Philippe Petit tells it himself. The destruction of the towers is never mentioned. Who it's for: those who like documentary and true stories. Who it's not for: viewers afraid of heights; the images trigger that directly.
