What Ombline Is About

Ombline is twenty, and after an operation that goes wrong she injures a police officer and is sentenced to three years. Just as she has lost every expectation, she learns she is pregnant. French law lets the child stay with the mother for the first eighteen months, after which the child is handed over to the state. Ombline has no intention of giving up her son and does everything she can to convince the authorities that she will be able to raise him once she is out. It is Stéphane Cazes’s first film, from his own screenplay, and it was shot inside a real prison. Mélanie Thierry leads, with Corinne Masiero and Nathalie Bécue beside her. It opened in France on 12 September 2012.
