What Orchestra Class Is About
Simon is a violinist whose own career has stalled; he takes a job teaching violin to children at a school on the edge of Paris. The class is a scattered, impatient group holding an instrument for the first time, and the aim is a real concert at the end of the year. Among them is Arnold, whose ability shows quickly. Rachid Hami directed and Kad Merad leads. It draws on the real orchestra programmes run in French schools. It follows the inspiring-teacher template exactly and holds no surprises; the children's performances and the music itself are what keep it standing.
