Oskar's America

Oskar is ten years old. He lives with his mother in northern Norway. More often than not he is the one doing the caring. She tells him she is going to America for a job interview. She is in fact going for treatment for her drinking. Oskar is left with his grandfather. The old man is stern and says little. The house is far from anywhere. There Oskar makes friends with Levi. Levi has a horse that cannot see well. The two boys work out a plan, which is to row across the Atlantic and take the horse along. The point is to reach America and find Oskar’s mother, and imagination becomes a way of holding on. Odin Eikre, Jørgen Langhelle, Marie Blokhus and Bjørn Sundquist appear in the seventy nine minute film, a Norwegian production Torfinn Iversen showed at Berlin in 2017.
