What Out of the Blue Is About

On 13 November 1990, in the small New Zealand seaside town of Aramoana, a man began killing his neighbours with a semi automatic rifle. The town was trapped for twenty four hours while a handful of local police, short of weapons and equipment, put their lives at risk to find him and get the survivors out. The film refuses to go inside the killer's head and makes no attempt to explain him, keeping the camera on the victims and the town. New Zealand changed its gun laws after this. A real massacre, and hard to watch.
