What Out of the City Is About
A computer programmer leaves the city with his son for a holiday. Where they go is in the country, an order that resembles his city life not at all. The man is caught between his own habits and the pace of the place. The distance between father and son shifts over the journey too. The film keeps all this somewhere between comedy and feeling. Country life is neither longed for nor made fun of. The hundred and four minutes are given to a single holiday. Tomáš Hanák and Bolek Polívka take the leads, with Eva Holubová also in the cast. Tomáš Vorel’s Czech film was completed in 2000.
