What Outlaw! Is About
Horst Fantazzini was the son of an anarchist and was known in northern Italy as the gentleman bandit; he robbed banks without violence, carrying nothing but a toy gun. After many convictions and escapes, in the summer of 1973, held in the prison at Fossano in Piedmont, he tries to get out once more. This time it goes wrong: he has to use a real gun and take two guards hostage. The film is based on what he wrote about himself, and without building a hero it shows how a single day gets away from a man. Stefano Accorsi plays the lead in Enzo Monteleone’s hundred and ten minute Italian film, completed in 1999.
