Anand Ranga's 2009 Telugu film begins with the interest the well-off Uday takes in Sandhya. He learns that she has a terminal illness and decides to continue the relationship regardless. The film does not keep the illness hidden and builds its narrative on that knowledge. Uday tries to fill the time that remains; the narrative does not present this as sacrifice and makes room for what Sandhya wants. Siddharth and Shamili lead. The tone begins light and grows heavy in the final section; the music is an important part of the narrative. It stays inside the melodrama form. Who it's for: those who like Telugu romantic drama. Who it's not for: viewers uncomfortable with terminal illness used as an emotional device.
