Maurice Jouvet What Pajarito Gómez Is About
The film tells the life and career of a popular singer: his coming from a poor place, his rise to fame, and the way the press and the record business use him. On stage he is a man people love, but he has no say in any of the decisions made about him; his image and his words alike are built by others. The account sets this up not as a story of a fall but as the showing of an arrangement that worked this way from the start. The happy life named in the title stands, for that reason, as irony. Hector Pellegrini plays the lead in Rodolfo Kuhn’s eighty three minute Argentine film, completed in 1965.
