Antidote

For thirty years Kadir Korkut has been Kara Cemal's man in the Istanbul underworld; Cemal gives the order and Kadir pulls the trigger. Because of his feeling for a woman he wants out. Cemal does not allow it: he poisons him and asks for two last jobs in return for the antidote. In one night Kadir is set against two large families, with only a police mole whose cover is blown beside him. Alper Çağlar's film attempts a kind of action cinema rarely tried in Turkey and puts the fight scenes to the front. The lead is the martial arts instructor Emin Boztepe; Cüneyt Arkın plays Kara Cemal. The film opened in May 2014 but was withdrawn from cinemas after the Soma disaster and came back in July. Reviews were split: the editing and the fights were praised, the acting argued over.
