What Parked Is About
Fred Daly comes back to Ireland with nowhere to stay and starts living in his car. Welfare requires an address, an address requires a flat, a flat requires money. Cathal, twenty-one, parks next to him: loud, smoking dope, not easily discouraged. They become friends, Cathal introduces him to Jules, a music teacher, and a door Fred closed years ago opens slightly. Darragh Byrne's Irish film has Colm Meaney as Fred and Colin Morgan as Cathal. It handles homelessness and addiction without softening either, and without surrendering to despair.
