Part-Time Work of a Domestic Slave

Roswitha lives in Frankfurt. Her husband is a student and brings no money in. The care of the children falls to her as well. Roswitha keeps the household going. To do that she runs an illegal abortion practice. The work is secret and it carries risk. At some point she is forced to close the practice. The income of the household closes with it. Roswitha then looks for another way. She moves into political and social activism. She starts seeing her own situation in a wider frame. She wants to tell other people what she has understood. The obstacles she meets are not small ones. The film is about the labour of women and the work inside a home that goes unseen. The narration proceeds in an essayistic manner. Alexandra Kluge and Bion Steinborn appear in the eighty nine minute film, a German production Alexander Kluge finished in 1973.
