Parzania

At the centre of the story is a Parsi family. They live in Gujarat. The household is quiet and happy. Then violence breaks out in the region in 2002. On 28 February the Gulbarg Society is attacked. Sixty nine people are killed there. The family’s son Parzan goes missing that day. The boy is ten years old. His mother and father begin to look for him. The search goes on for years. The official processes do not move. The family lives with grief and with not knowing. The film starts from a real case. The boy who disappeared was named Azhar Mody. The film won a national award, but it was not shown in cinemas in Gujarat, where the owners feared reprisals. Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika appear in the hundred and sixteen minute film, an Indian and American production Rahul Dholakia finished in 2005.
