What Patriots Time Is About
A Kazakh military action film. Two brothers serve: Sultan in intelligence, Bekzat as a fighter pilot. They have not spoken for years because of something left over from their father's death. While an international organisation prepares an attack on the country's strategic sites, the two end up in the same operation and have to work together. The film is openly about the army and the homeland; the familiar register of state-backed productions is here, with the message ahead of the characters. Real money went into the flying and combat scenes.
