Peddlin' in Society

Gioconda Perfetti sells fruit in Rome. During the war she gets into the black market. The work makes her a great deal of money. She gives up her stall. She moves into a villa that once belonged to a count. Her life changes overnight. New people appear around her. They are not to be trusted. Gioconda does not know this world. They take advantage of what she does not know. Her money slips away from her. The film is about Italy after the war. It sits between comedy and drama. Anna Magnani, Vittorio De Sica and Virgilio Riento appear in the eighty five minute film, an Italian production Gennaro Righelli finished in 1946.
