Penny Pinchers

Ji-woong has finished university, cannot find work and gets by on money out of his mother. The day she turns the tap off, he is on the street. The same day he meets Hong-sil, who has made a profession of being tight: she collects empty bottles, sells old newspapers, hoards coupons and counts trips to the bank to make a deposit as a hobby. Ji-woong starts learning from her. The target is a certain figure within a year. Why she is saving it is a separate story. Kim Jung-hwan directs the Korean film; an hour and fifty-four minutes, with Han Ye-seul as Hong-sil and Song Joong-ki as Ji-woong. It was made in a period when young people could not find work, and that is where its comedy comes from.
