Persona non grata

Wiktor, the Polish ambassador to Uruguay, comes home when his wife Helena dies suddenly, but arrives too late for the funeral. At the service an old Russian friend, Oleg, appears. Wiktor wants to know whether the man had a relationship with his wife; at the same time he suspects that years ago, when Oleg was posted to Warsaw, he may have been placed inside the opposition. Oleg will come to Uruguay and promises to tell him everything there. The film gathers grief, jealousy and political suspicion inside the same man. Zbigniew Zapasiewicz and Nikita Mikhalkov appear in Krzysztof Zanussi’s hundred and thirteen minute Polish film, completed in 2005.
