What Point Blank Is About
A nursing assistant stops an attack on a patient in a hospital corridor. The next day his pregnant wife is abducted and he is told to get that patient out of the hospital. After the premise the film barely stops; the narrative runs about eighty minutes, with most of the chases shot in the metro, in corridors and on stairs. The hero has no special ability, and the film keeps reminding you. Fred Cavaye directed. It did well in France and was later remade in America. Who it's for: those who like lean, fast, short action thrillers. Who it's not for: viewers wanting depth of character; the film gives it no time at all.
