Thana is an architect in Bangkok whose own design gets handed to the boss's son. Drifting through the streets afterwards, he runs into Popeye, the elephant he grew up with, and whistles the cartoon theme, which the animal recognises at once. Thana buys him from his mahout and sets out for Loei in the northeast, aiming for the farm where the two of them were young. Kirsten Tan's first feature holds the road story between melancholy and comedy, and the people they meet in rural Thailand become its real subject. Sundance gave it a special jury prize for screenwriting.
