Portraits in a Sea of Lies

Marina is a young woman. She is withdrawn and speaks to almost no one. She lives with her grandfather. Where she stays is a run down shed. When the grandfather dies she is left alone. Her cousin Jairo takes her in. Jairo works as a photographer. He hires Marina to carry his gear. The two of them set out on the road. The aim is to reach an inheritance left by the grandfather. Along the way they cross the country. Marina’s childhood cuts into the account. Her family was driven from their home years ago. The long conflict in the country stands behind the account. Ana Maria Arango is in the cast as well. Paola Baldion and Julian Roman take the leads, with Edgardo Roman also in the cast, in Carlos Gaviria’s Colombian film of 2010.
