What Postcard Is About
The account is set towards the end of the Second World War. Keita is a middle aged soldier. A comrade entrusts him with a postcard. The comrade is sure he will die in battle. After the war ends Keita keeps carrying that postcard. Then he goes to visit Yuko, his comrade’s wife. There he sees for himself the hard life she has led. What the war left behind is what the film shows. It runs war, drama and romance together. Etsushi Toyokawa and Shinobu Otake take the leads, with Naomasa Musaka and Akira Emoto also in the cast, in Kaneto Shindō’s Japanese film of 2010.
