What Radio Star Is About
Choi Gon, once a famous singer, has been reduced to playing in cafes after getting mixed up in a scandal. When he is arrested following an argument, his manager Park Min-su goes to the head of a radio station for help; the man agrees, but sets a condition. The singer is sent out to present a programme at a small station in the provinces. Between a man who cares about nobody and the people of that town, something nobody expected slowly takes shape. What the film is really about is the long, unspoken loyalty between the manager and the singer. Park Joong-hoon and Ahn Sung-ki appear in Lee Joon-ik’s hundred and fifteen minute Korean film, completed in 2006.
