What Red Dog: True Blue Is About
Eleven-year-old Mick is sent to his grandfather's cattle station in Western Australia and finds himself in the middle of empty red country. The only friend he finds there is a tough dog that belongs to nobody. The film is a prequel to the 2011 Red Dog, showing how the dog that became a mining town's legend got there in the first place. Red Dog really existed, and there is a statue of him in the Pilbara today, which is part of where the story's pull comes from. Made as a family film, it is also about the end of childhood.
