What Road to La Paz Is About
Sebastian is out of work and the only thing he takes pleasure in is his old Peugeot. Once he marries Jazmin and no money is coming in, he starts driving people for a living. One of his regulars, an elderly man named Jalil, asks him for a long journey: Buenos Aires to La Paz in Bolivia. The two of them rub against each other the whole way, one impatient, the other refusing to alter his own rhythm. Francisco Varone's 2015 film promises no transformation and is content to watch two people get used to one another. As the mishaps accumulate, the trip leaves something small and real in both of them.
