Rocca Changes the World

Rocca is eleven and has lived until now with her father beside a space centre. Her father is an astronaut and is currently on the space station. Rocca is sent to Hamburg, to her mother's mother, and starts at a normal school for the first time in her life. But the grandmother does not want to take her in and the girl ends up living alone in a house. At school she has no intention of following the rules either. The mould is obvious: Rocca is a modern Pippi Longstocking and the film does not hide it. She lives on her own, pays no attention to adults, and sticks her nose into whatever injustice she sees. The German film, directed by Katja Benrath, speaks to children, but its subjects are not light: homelessness, bullying at school, and a family that has come apart. Barbara Sukowa plays the grandmother. Luna Marie Maxeiner is Rocca. A hundred and one minutes.
