Rome, the Other Face of Violence

The film is set in Rome. A robbery takes place in a well off house. The robbers are hooded and armed. During the raid an eighteen year old girl is killed. Her father is crushed by that death. He cannot get on with his other son either. In the end he comes to stand beside Commissioner Carli, who is running the investigation. Meanwhile an armoured van is robbed. That job costs lives too. The police decide to lay siege to the outskirts of the city. They concentrate the search there. The people they are looking for are not there, though. The culprits live in the better districts of the city. They are the sons of wealthy families. The film turns the question of where crime comes from on its head. Among the Italian crime pictures of the period it stands out for its pace. Marcel Bozzuffi and Anthony Steffen appear in the ninety nine minute film, an Italian and French co-production Marino Girolami finished in 1976.
