What Running Turtle Is About

Jo Pil-seong is a policeman in the provinces. He is no good at his job, no use at home, and in debt from gambling. One day he wins a large sum at the races. That same day he runs into Song Ki-tae, an escaped convict, who takes the money and goes. Pil-seong's problem is no longer catching a fugitive but getting his money back. Ki-tae can fight, and is fast and clever; Pil-seong is only stubborn. He gets beaten every time and goes after him every time, and in the end it stops being about the money. Lee Yeon-woo directs the Korean film; a hundred and seventeen minutes, with Kim Yun-seok as Pil-seong and Jung Kyung-ho as Ki-tae. It uses the shape of a crime film while never presenting its hero as one; the funny and the pitiful in the chase come out of the same scene.
