Saba Nayagan

C. S. Karthikeyan's 2023 Tamil film follows Saba through the years from youth into adulthood. Friendships, university and one relationship after another are laid out in sections, and each teaches him something different. The idea is to show love not as a destination but as repeated learning. Saba makes the same mistake slightly differently each time, and the narrative neither punishes nor exalts that. Ashok Selvan leads. The tone is light and the music is decisive inside the telling. Because of the sectioned structure some relationships end before they develop; the film chooses breadth over depth. Who it's for: those who like Tamil romantic comedy and coming-of-age stories. Who it's not for: viewers expecting one relationship worked through in detail; the film moves on quickly.
