Safe Sex

The film ties together several stories set in Athens. All of them are about the same thing: couples and sex. One keeps up the same lie for years, one cannot talk about it at all, one envies somebody else's life. The stories run in parallel and touch each other in the end. It never states outright that this is a subject Greek households do not discuss; it shows it by stacking up what people cannot say to each other. Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas direct the Greek comedy; a hundred minutes. The two are a writing team known from television. In 1999 it became the most watched domestic film of the year in Greece and started the wave that brought audiences back to Greek cinema.
